Sky Italia to broadcast Winter Olympics exclusively

Pay-TV provider Sky Italia has announced that it will be broadcasting the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics on an exclusive basis after state broadcaster Rai reneged on an agreement to sublicense the rights. Instead, Sky will offer 100 hours of free-to-air live coverage via its Cielo channel (DTT channel 26, Sky channel 126, TivuSat channel 19) and the Cielo.it website. The company is obliged to provide a specific amount of free-to-air coverage under International Olympic Committee (IOC) regulations. The coverage offered to Sky Italia's 4.76 million subscribers, meanwhile, will include 560 hours of
