Slim launches educational app, to donate smartphones

Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim, honorary president of America Movil, has announced plans to create a secondary market for used smartphones, which will be recycled and then donated to public schools and universities. Reforma reports that Slim made the announcement at the launch of "Aprende.org", a free online educational platform with content developed by the Khan Academy. Free courses are currently available in mathematics, history, science and culture, with Telcel and Telmex subscribers given data-free access.
