Smart Axiata launches LTE in Phnom Penh
Cambodian mobile operator Smart Axiata has made LTE services available in six "experience zones" across the capital. The company plans to expand the network to four more locations by March and to nearly all of downtown Phnom Penh by the second quarter. Smart offers the LTE service for USD 5 for 1 GB of data valid for a month or customers can pay USD 0.01 per 500 KB. Furthermore, customers using the postpaid Combo 48, 58, and 68 plans will get access to the LTE network at no extra cost.

Cambodian mobile operator Smart Mobile announced that it has completely merged the Smart and Hello networks into a single Smart-branded network. Late last year, Asian mobile operator group Axiata bought Smart Mobile to merge it with its Hello Axiata business.

Beeline, Smart warned over on-net promotions

The Telecommunication Regulator of Cambodia (TRC) has warned mobile operators Beeline and Smart Mobile that their recent promotions violate an edict from 2009. Beeline's Pdo Prak promotion and Smart's Xchange promotion offer lower on-net rates than is allowed in the edict. Smart is offering USD 30 worth of on-net calls for USD 2 while Beeline is offering USD 50 worth of on-net calls for USD 2. Smart launches Smart Laor tariff plan

Cambodian mobile operator Smart Mobile has introduced the "Smart Laor" tariff plan. Under the plan, customers get a 500 percent bonus with every top-up, with 300 percent bonus for calls and 200 percent bonus credit for internet services. Voice calls are priced at USD 0.05 per minute for on-net calls and at USD 0.08 per minute for off-net calls. On-net SMS messages cost USD 0.01 while off-net messages cost USD 0.05; on-net MMS messages are priced at USD 0.04 and off-net MMS messages are priced at USD 0.10. M

Sim card sales rise 21% in Cambodia

Sales of Sim cards in Cambodia reached 19.7 million in 2012, up 21 percent from 16.2 million in 2011, the Phnom Penh Post writes citing figures from the Ministry of Post and Telecommunication (MPTC). Asian operator Axiata announced the completion of the merger of its Cambodian unit Hello Axiata with rival Smart Mobile. They will operate as a single entity, known legally as Latelz Company Limited.
