Smart TV adoption in developed markets to grow - study

More than 50 percent of homes in the US, Japan, UK, France and Germany will have smart TVs by 2019, according to the latest IHS research. Smart TV adoption has increased in many developed markets, along with China, as consumers increasingly access streaming content from online video platforms. Smart TV penetration in Japan will increase from 50 percent to 63 percent by 2019, followed by the US at 59 percent. In Western Europe, Germany and the UK are expected to reach 53 percent penetration for smart TVs in 2019, followed by France at 50 percent.
