Smartphone memory market up 3% in H1, Samsung widens lead

The global smartphone memory chip market reached a combined value of USD 19.2 billion in the first half of 2020, up 3 percent year on year thanks to a growth in NAND flash chips, offsetting a marginal decline in DRAM chips. The latest data from Strategy Analytics revealed that Samsung Memory widened its lead in the first 6 months of the year with a 49 percent revenue share thanks above all to the shipment of memory chips featuring UFS 3.0, UFS 3.1 and LPDDR5 memory technologies. SK Hynix and Micron remained in the second and third positions, with the top three vendors continuing to dominate
