Smartphone sales up 4% in Q2, driven by Huawei surge - Canalys

Thursday 3 August 2017 | 10:20 CET | News
Over 340 million smartphones shipped in the second quarter of 2017, an increase of almost 4 percent year on year, according to the latest report from Canalys. The figures contrast with IDC's estimation of a 1.3 percent year-on-year decline in smartphone sales in Q2, with Strategy Analytics reporting that shipments rose 5.5 percent in the April to June period. According to Canalys, the smartphone market continued to grow in the second quarter despite India and China both slipping into decline. In particular, smartphone shipments to North America increased by around 7 percent year on year.
