Smartphone shipments in China to hit 436 mln units in 2014

Smartphone sales in China are expected to reach 436 million units next year, with local handset maker contributing 279 million units, according to Digitimes Research. International handset vendors are expected to ship 158 million units in China, up 3 percent year-on-year. Worldwide, Chinese phone makers are forecast to ship 407 million smartphones, up 28 percent from a year earlier. Lenovo and Huawei are expected to ship 50 million smartphones each in 2014, with Huawei having a higher export ratio than Lenovo.
