Smartwatches to comprise 40% of wristworn devices by 2016

Just ten days after Apple announced the launch of its Apple Watch device, a new report from Gartner predicts that by 2016 smartwatches will comprise some 40 percent of consumer wristworn devices. The study of the global wearables market revealed that nine out of the top ten smartphone vendors have now entered the wearables market, or are about to ship a first product, compared to only two vendors a year ago. Gartner said the Apple Watch will trigger more consumer interest once it starts shipping in 2015, above all due to its design and user interface, even though Apple's high-price strategy
