Smile Telecom to pay social media tax for customers for 3 months

Smile Telecom Uganda has committed to paying the UGX 200 daily social media tax for all its subscribers for three months, reports The Observer. The new taxes came into effect on 01 July, at the start of 2018/19 financial year, and include 1 percent on all mobile money transactions. Social media users are required to pay UGX 200 daily, UGX 1400 weekly or UGX 6,000 monthly.
