
SMS traffic down 43% over New Year in Hong Kong

The number of SMS sent in Hong Kong over the Chinese New Year fell by 43.0 percent compared to a year earlier to 6.572 million, the regulator OFCA reported. The number of SMS received was down 32.9 percent from 2013 to 13.435 million. The annual decline was less than the previous year, but still significant as more people used IP-based messaging systems.
