SoftBank, Aeris launch IoT, telematics JV in Japan

SoftBank and Internet of Things (IoT) services provider Aeris have established a joint venture in Japan. Dubbed ‘Aeris Japan’, the joint venture company will provide IoT and telematics services globally using the Aeris IoT services platform.  

The Aeris IoT services platform is designed to enable enterprises to bring IoT services to market. The platform consists of AerPort connectivity management platform, AerCloud applications enablement platform, AerCore IoT network and AerVoyance IoT analytics platform. Aeris reports it currently has over 7.5 million devices under management.

In partnership with SoftBank, Aeris plans to expand its business in Japan and beyond, including India, Europe and the US, covering multiple market segments and offering services ranging from a IoT connectivity platform to IoT application middleware to complete IoT tools for market segments including telematics in the automotive industry.

Aeris Japan will be headquartered in Higashi-Shimbashi Minato-ku, Tokyo, and led by executives from SoftBank and Aeris including Hiroshi Akabori, COO, and Raj Kanaya, CEO, respectively.

Aeris releases Fusion IoT Network

Aeris announced the general availability of the Fusion IoT Network, an intelligent 5G-ready platform for connecting IoT devices across 2G, 3G, LTE, LTE-M, and NB-IoT. The Fusion IoT Network lays the groundwork for a dynamic and flexible connectivity platform that adapts to a rapidly changing environment, the company said. Aeris also entered into a multi-year partnership and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to make GCP the infrastructure provider for the Fusion IoT Network.

Aeris, Mach Networks collaborate to offer IoT products

Aeris agreed to work with Mach Networks, a US provider of last-mile IoT connectivity products, to offer 4G/LTE IoT connectivity products for small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs) and enterprises. The fully managed bundled products available from Aeris and Mach Networks include enterprise-class 4G/LTE routers, service plans on Aeris' global IoT network and remote monitoring, management and ongoing technical support.
