SoftBank to accelerate 5G network rollout, reach 60% coverage by early 2023 - report

Wednesday 18 September 2019 | 09:31 CET | News
Japanese operator SoftBank plans to complete the first phase of its 5G network deployment two years ahead of its initially set schedule, Nikkei reports. SoftBank initially planned to deploy 11,210 base stations across Japan, covering more than 60 percent of the country's territory, by the end of the fiscal year ending March 2025. SoftBank now wants to increase its employee base and boost network deployment to reach 60 percent coverage by early 2023. SoftBank plans to commercially launch its 5G service in March 2020, using base stations from Ericsson and Nokia.
