Softbank to test Japanese GPS

Japanese communications provider Softbank will begin testing location information services using a Japanese global positioning system, reports the Nikkei citing the company. In October and November, Softbank will hold events in Tanegashima, Kagoshima Prefecture and elsewhere where travellers will be able to use their smartphones to obtain information about local tourist spots. It will solicit participation from 300 people. The company will check the accuracy of such services in preparation for Japan's Michibiki Quasi-Zenith Satellite System, which is set to be fully operational in 2018. Only
