Solorz-Zak leads bids for Polkomtel - report
Seven investors have been included on the short-list of candidates to acquire Polish mobile operator Polkomtel. The list includes TeliaSonera, Telenor, the Polish group of companies controlled by Zygmunt Solorz-Zak, as well as four consortia formed by Blackstone, KKR, Providence Equity and Bain Capital funds, reports Rzeczpospolita. Offers vary from PLN 16 to 18 billion, with Solorz-Zak offering the highest amount.

Polkomtel profit almost triples to PLN 142.7 mln in Q4

Polish mobile operator Polkomtel saw its sales increase to PLN 1.946 billion in Q4 from PLN 1.851 billion in the year-earlier period. Revenues from sales for 2010 were 1.3 percent lower than in the comparable prior period. However, both the result on sales (an increase by PLN 93.9 million) and the profit for the period (an increase of PLN 168.4 million) were higher in 2010. Polkomtel attracts 10 bidders - report

Shareholders of Polkomtel received around 10 indicative takeover bids for the Polish mobile operator and will shortlist about five ahead of the next round expected in mid-March, people familiar with the situation told Dow Jones. TeliaSonera confirmed it placed a bid by the 21 February deadline, while unnamed sources said the bidders may also include Telenor, Telefonica and America Movil. Private equity firms TPG and Blackstone Group LP submitted a joint bid and Bain Capital put in a bid, Dow Jones reports.

TeliaSonera has made an indicative offer for Polkomtel, a spokeswoman for the company confirmed to Reuters. Bids for the Polish mobile operator were due on 21 February. America Movil is interested in acquiring Polish mobile operator Polkomtel, Reuters reports, citing America Movil CEO Daniel Hajj. Polish mobile phone operator Polkomtel will receive indicative offers by 21 February, with sellers expected to whittle down the shortlist of potential suitors allowed to conduct due diligence by early March, Dow Jones Newswires reports citing a person familiar with the matter. Polish entrepreneur Zygmunt Solorz-Zak is in talks on a possible acquisition of mobile operator Polkomtel. The businessman told PAP that his advisors are talking to Polkomtel's shareholders.
