Sonus Networks adds support for LTE calling

Tuesday 28 February 2017 | 15:18 CET | News
Sonus Networks introduced the newest addition to its mobility suite: LTE Calling. This new capability is offered in conjunction with Sonus' Mobile Client, Virtual Mobile Core and SBC SWe.

Sonus' LTE Calling is an extension of Wi-Fi Calling and provides operators with another access option for offloading voice and messaging using the LTE or HSPA data channel. Leveraging the data channel for voice and messaging allows operators to enjoy significant costs savings when it comes to international and in-country roaming as well as reducing the overall voice cost structure, Sonus said. Sonus' Wi-Fi and LTE Calling solutions integrate with the native dialer on Android devices, extending the reach of the mobile network and improving in-building coverage by routing calls over Wi-Fi or LTE/HSPA.
