Sony beats FY growth forecast on Playstation demand, profitable mobile business

Wednesday 28 April 2021 | 11:22 CET | News
Sony reported revenues for its fiscal year to March up 9 percent to JPY 9.0 trillion, as the new Playstation and growth in its gaming business helped offset the slump in the film and television business due to the pandemic. Operating profit rose 15 percent to JPY 972 billion, supported by improved profitability at the music and mobile phone divisions, and net profit doubled to JPY 1.2 trillion, thanks to tax asset revaluations. The results were better than the company's forecast issued in February.
