Sony claims third place in French smartphone market

Sony Mobile has overtaken RIM to become France's third biggest smartphone vendor, the company's head of mobile in France, David Mignot, told Les Echos, citing GfK research. Sony took an 8.7 percent share of smartphone sales in October, passed RIM in the last few months and is behind Samsung and Apple, which have 65 percent of sales, combined. Sony Mobiles France is expected to increase its sales by 12 percent to 15.2 million smartphones in 2013, compared to sales up 16 percent to 13.5 million units.
