Sony Mobile to focus profit drive on Mideast, Africa

Sony Mobile plans to focus more on the Middle East and Africa, one of the few markets where the handset maker is bullish on sales, as part of efforts to improve its profitability. The region has been increasing sales volumes in "double digits" for the past three years since the introduction of the flagship Xperia Z range, said Spyros Gousetis, director of marketing for the Middle East, Africa and Turkey, in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. He said this year the company will "put the groundwork in for stable profitability". The Middle East and Africa region now makes up about 10
