Sony Mobile to use MediaTek 4G solution for smartphones

Sony Mobile Communications plans to adopt Taiwan chip maker MediaTek's 64-bit quad-core solution, the MT6732, for production of entry-level and mid-range 4G LTE smartphones, Digitimes reports, citing industry sources. These smartphones are expected to be delivered next year. Taiwan-based handset ODMs, including Arima Communications, Compal Communications and FIH Mobile, are currently manufacturing 4G LTE smartphones for Sony Mobile using smartphone solutions from chip maker Qualcomm.
