Sony to launch first tablets in autumn

Sony is moving into the tablet market and will launch its first two products in the autumn. Sony said it's developing two tablets, including the S1 (codename) with a 9.4-inch screen and optimized for rich media entertainment and S2 (codename) with two 5.5-inch screens that can be used separately or together and folded to close the tablet. The devices run Android 3.0, are Wi-Fi and WAN (3G/4G) compatible and support a range of digital content including videos, games and books through Sony's services and others. This will include the Qriocity music and video services, PlayStation Suite, and ebook content from the Reader Store. Through the Sony Tablet, users will also be able to control home entertainment devices such as Sony Bravia TVs or connecting DLNA devices. Son said it will also continue to make laptops under its Vaio brand, targeting especially emerging markets.
