Sony unveils new 'super mid-range' smartphones at CES

Sony has unveiled thee new smartphones at CES in Las Vegas. The Xperia XA2, XA2 Ultra and L2 offer a new design style from the manufacturer, moving the fingerprint sensor to the back of the device and introducing a slimmer bezel. The XA models are positioned below its XZ series, as a ‘super mid-range' line with premium Sony cameras. 

The Xperia XA2 comes with a 23-megapixel camera with Sony's 1/2.3 Exmor RS mobile image sensor. This offers an ISO up to 12,800 for taking photos in little light as well as support for 4K video recording. The phone with 5.2-inch full HD screen also comes with an 8-megapixel wide-angle front camera, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor and a 3,300 mAh battery with quick charging. It will launch in March for EUR 349.

The Xperia XA2 Ultra comes with the same 23-megapixel rear camera, as well as dual front cameras of 16 megapixels with optical image stabilisation and 8 megapixels with 120-degree wide-angle lens. The smartphone features a 6-inch HD display and Sony's largest-ever battery of 3,580 mAh and runs Android 8.0. It will be available in a choice of silver, black or blue from March for a recommended price of EUR 429. 

The Xperia L2 offers 5.5-inch HD screen with Android 7.1, 13-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel wide-angle front camera. It will launch at the end of January in a choice of gold or black for a recommended price of EUR 249.
