South African minister urges mediation in spectrum auction dispute

Communications and Digital Technologies Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams has noted the judgment by the High Court in Pretoria on 08 March, ordering the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa) to halt the auction of radio frequency spectrum licences, pending a hearing of contentions raised by broadcaster e.tv and Telkom. She said the ministry remains open to mediation for the parties involved to find a common solution via alternative dispute resolution outside the court process.
