South Korea govt to release smartphone recall guidelines

Tuesday 20 December 2016 | 14:58 CET | News
The South Korean government will introduce the country's first recall guidelines for smartphones later this month, Yonhap news agency reports, citing an unnamed government source. The decision follows the recent massive recall by Samsung Electronics of its Galaxy Note 7 phablet. South Korea's Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and telecom and broadcasting regulator the Korea Communications Commission (KCC) have drawn up a draft of the guidelines and will release the final draft by end-December, the source said.
