South Korea wants ITU to adopt its 5G services as global standards

Thursday 18 July 2019 | 09:20 CET | News
South Korea has proposed that the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) adopt its 5G technologies as global standards, Yonhap news agency reports, citing the Korean Ministry of Science and ICT. At the 32nd ITU meeting of Working Party 5D (WP5D) in Brazil, the Korean Ministry proposed that some of the wireless connection and broadband technologies used to develop the Asian country's 5G services be made international standards. The ITU is expected to announce the global standards for 5G services in 2020.
