SpaceX launched its fourth batch of Starlink satellites on the back of a reusable Falcon 9 rocket on 29 January, Space.com reported. The rocket put 60 more Starlink satellites into orbit and was launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.
This was the second such launch by the company in January. The satellites all successfully deployed about an hour after liftoff. The mission was postponed multiple times in January due to unfavorable weather conditions.
Following the successful launch, the rocket's first stage touched down on SpaceX's drone ship landing platform in the Atlantic Ocean, marking the company's 49th booster recovery.
The Starlink mega-constellation could eventually total 42,000 satellites. With this launch, SpaceX has sent a total of 242 satellites into space, including early test birds.
The aim of SpaceX's Starlink project is to provide constant broadband internet access to users around the world.
