Spain slashes indirect fixed broadband capacity rates by 40%

Friday 18 January 2019 | 10:46 CET | News
Spain's communications regulator CNMC has approved a 40 percent cut in indirect fixed broadband capacity fees after implementing a new methodology to ensure that the prices set by Telefonica can be replicated by alternative operators using its wholesale service. In a statement, the watchdog said the fee charged by Telefonica to access its fibre and copper network would be reduced from the current figure of EUR 5.14 a month per Mbps to EUR 3.06. The reduced rate could subsequently be reflected in operator offers to consumers, added the CNMC.
