Spain's CNMC asks Telefonica to reduce infrastructure access rates

Spain's communications and competition regulator CNMC has issued another wholesale fibre market proposal affecting Telefonica, this time asking the former incumbent to lower the recurring monthly prices it charges rivals to access its physical infrastructure by 20 percent. The review of Telefonica's so-called MARCo offer involves elements that allow rival operators to access the company's civil works infrastructure, above all conduits, manholes and poles, so that they can deploy their own next generation access (fibre) networks.
