Spain's CNMC proposes deregulation of MVNO market

Monday 4 July 2016 | 08:26 CET | News
Spain's communications watchdog CNMC has opened a one-month public consultation into its proposal to deregulate the country's market for mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs). The CNMC said its aim is to eliminate the obligations imposed on Telefonica, Vodafone and Orange within six months. The network operators have been required to provide a "reasonable" access to their mobile infrastructure since 2006, opening the way for MVNOs to offer increasing voice and data services to their customers. There are now around 30 MVNOs in Spain, with a joint market share of 10 percent.
