Spain's Digi Mobil requests EU free roaming opt-out

Digi Mobil, the MVNO targeting Romanians in Spain, has announced that it has applied to regulator CNMC for permission to opt out of the newly-introduced roam-like-at-home requirement in the EU on grounds of economic viability. In a lengthy statement, the operator said applying the roam-like-at-home policy would require it to incur very high costs that it simply couldn't afford without compromising its competitive price model. "The easiest solution would have been to raise the price of our rates for all customers… but this is not the Digi style," said Digi Mobil CEO Marius Varzaru, adding that
