Spain's GMV awarded Galileo ground control contract

The European Space Agency (ESA) has announced that the tender to control the on-the-ground infrastructure for the EU's flagship Galileo navigation system has been awarded to Spain's GMV Aerospace and Defence. The EUR 250 million contract for the Galileo Control Segment responsible for the monitoring and control of all the satellites in orbit was signed at a ceremony in Spain's Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities in Madrid in the presence of the country's science minister and former ESA astronaut Pedro Duque.
