Spain's PP backs down in row with regulator over fibre plans

Spain's ruling People's Party (PP) has backed down in its row with the country's communications regulator CNMC over the proposal to open up Telefonica's fibre network to rival operators, reports El Mundo. After receiving strong criticism from the main centre-left opposition party, PSOE, and CNMC president Jose Maria Marin, the PP has decided to indefinitely suspend a motion tabled with the Spanish Senate requesting that the CNMC rectify its decision with a view to protecting Telefonica's investment in the country fibre-optic network.
