Spanish consumer body denounces 'planned iPhone obsolescence'

Spanish consumer protection authority Facua has filed a complaint before the European Commission Directorate General on Competition on grounds that Apple misled iPhone customers and practised planned obsolescence by slowing down older handsets without prior notice. In its complaint, the authority accused Apple of deliberately shortening the lifespan of its smartphones in a breach of the EU Directive on Consumer Rights (2011/83/EU).
