Spanish operators banned from acquiring Yoigo – report

Monday 6 August 2012 | 07:10 CET | News
Movistar, Vodafone and Orange are reportedly out of the competition for the acquisition of TeliaSonera's Spanish subsidiary Yoigo. There are legal restrictions that would hamper the operation if the potential buyer was Movistar, Vodafone or Orange, Expansion reports. The terms of the tender via which Yoigo won its mobile licence prohibit the other tender winners, namely Movistar, Vodafone and Orange, to acquire two mobile concessions. Latin American operator America Movil, owned by Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim, is thus expected to become one of the main candidates to Yoigo's purchase.
