Spanish operators told to prevent 4G-DTT interference

The Spanish government is to hold Telefonica, Vodafone Spain and Orange Spain responsible for ensuring that there is no interference between 4G and digital terrestrial television (DTT) services starting 01 January. On that date the 800 MHz band frequencies currently used by DTT channels will be released for 4G deployment, a move that comes four years after the three operators paid out EUR 1.6 billion for the corresponding licenses in a 2011 auction. A draft ministerial order to be discussed on 03 December will contain provisions ordering the operators to pay for the actions required to
