Spotify buys podcast hosting platform Megaphone for USD 235 mln

Music streaming provider Spotify announced an agreement to acquire podcast advertising and publishing platform Megaphone for an undisclosed sum. According to unnamed sources cited by The Verge, Spotify paid USD 235 million for the podcast company, which hosts over 5,500 shows on its platform from publishers including Disney, Vox Media and Slate. The move follows Spotify's acquisition of podcast content provider The Ringer earlier this year.
