Spotify India hits 1 million unique listeners in first week
Spotify announced that it has already reached 1 million unique users in India on both its free and premium tiers less than a week since launching. As in other markets, the streaming service is offering a free version with ads alongside the ad-free Spotify Premium for INR 119 (around USD 1.68) per month, far less than in other territories. It’s also offering a 50 percent student discount and single-day, 3-month, 6-month and full-year plans.

The Swedish company is competing with market leader Gaana, backed by China’s Tencent, which reportedly has over 80 million monthly users in the country as well as Reliance Industries’ JioSaavn and Apple Music, Amazon Prime Music, Google Play Music and Xiaomi-backed Hungama.
