ST-Ericsson unveils affordable touchscreen platform

Mobile chipmaker and platform provider ST-Ericsson has unveiled a single-chip handset platform that aims to bring down the cost of entry-level multimedia touchscreen phones. Able to connect to both EDGE and Wi-Fi networks, the E4915 can support two Sim-cards simultaneously and the platform can also support a large haptic touch screen, a 3-megapixel camera, and a camcorder. Set to be used in commercial handsets by the second half of 2011, the E4915 also supports dual microphones and Voice services over Adaptive Multi-user channels on One Slot (VAMOS).
