Starz to not renew Netflix distribution deal

The premium broadcaster Starz Entertainment has ended contract renewal negotiations with Netflix. When their current agreement expires on 28 February 2012, Starz will cease to distribute its content on the Netflix streaming platform. Starz said the decision is a result of its strategy "to protect the premium nature of our brand by preserving the appropriate pricing and packaging of our exclusive and highly valuable content". The company said its current studio rights and growing amount of original programming will support its future growth.
