STC appoints Alwetaid as group CEO

STC Group announced the appointment of Olayan M. Alwetaid as group CEO effective 28 March. Alwetaid has more than twenty years of experience. He initially worked at Aramco then joined STC.

He was recently the Senior VP for the Consumer sector and before that was CEO of STC Bahrain. He heads the board of several STC subsidiaries such as Channels, Integral and CCC. He is also the Vice Chairman of STCPay and the chairman of several committees related to the mentioned boards. 

Alwetaid replaces Nasser Al Nasser, who announced in November that he was stepping down for personal reasons after two years in the job. He is expected to leave the position on 28 March.

STC Group net profit rises nearly 16% in Q4

Saudi operator STC Group said net profit increased by 15.6 percent to SAR 2.68 billion in the fourth quarter ended 31 December 2020 compared with the same period in 2019. Net profit for the 2020 financial year reached SAR 11.08 billion, up by 3.94 percent compared with FY 2019. Revenues for Q4 reached SAR 15.21 billion, up 14.69 percent year on year, and full-year revenue expanded by 8.43 percent to SAR 58.95 billion.

Saudi Telecom CEO to step down in March 2021

The chief executive officer (CEO) of Saudi operator STC has resigned from his post after more than two years in his role. Nasser Al Nasser was appointed to head the company in 2018 and will be leaving his position on 28 March 2021, the operator said in a bourse filing. It said the board accepted his resignation on 28 November due to his personal circumstances.
