Stoeger announces subsidies for excavation for broadband

Friday 28 November 2014 | 11:06 CET | News
Austrian infrastructure minister Alois Stoeger has announced 'mole plans' to accelerate broadband expansion in Austria, Der Standard reports. His plans entail financial support for communities where ducts are laid in tunnels during excavation work, which can later be used for broadband deployment. Due to the high cost of excavations, Stoeger wants to give communities technical assistance to take broadband expansion into consideration, even if it will not be carried out immediately. There are no details about the amount of the subsidy.
