Sunrise chief calls for Swisscom privatisation

Swiss operator Sunrise has repeated calls for Swisscom to be privatised, reports the APA news agency. In an interview with 'Schweiz am Sonntag' newspaper, Sunrise chairman Peter Kurer said that it was wrong for the largest telecoms provider in Switzerland to be state-owned. He added that Swisscom abuses its dominant market position, with a market share of 60-80 percent. Kurer said that the planned revision of the Telecoms Act provided the opportunity to address this and create a level playing field, and called for last-mile regulations to be extended to include fibre-optic networks.
