Supra (Albany, OR) has launched the Suprafaxmodem 288PB which works with Apple Powerbook notebooks at speeds of up to 28.8-kbps over dial-up lines. Based on Rockwell's V.Fast Class (V.FC) chipset, the modem uses the proposed V.34 (V.fast) standard which is due to be finalised in June 1994. The modem is an internal unit which allows Powerbook models to transmit Group 3 faxes and data. A standalone desktop version is also available, the Suprafaxmodem 288. Both models cost USDlr400.
