Surfnet builds LoRaWAN test network

Thursday 25 February 2016 | 16:28 CET | News
The Dutch higher education network Surfnet has invited participating universities and research institutes to test a LoRaWAN. The low-power, long-range network is designed to support Internet of Things applications. Surf has already placed gateways at the University of Leiden, Naturalis and TU Delft, as well as one at the Hoogeschool of Utrecht that covers the entire Uithof campus. Surf is working with The Things Network and developing its own applications, such as sensors to monitor the Eduroam Wi-Fi network and a method for strong authentication.
