Sweden starts 800MHz spectrum auction
Sweden has started an auction of spectrum in the 800MHz band, expected to support the growing demand for mobile broadband services in the country. Six licences of 2x5MHz each are on offer, with each bidder limited to a maximum 2x10MHz. The auction is managed by the telecoms regulator PTS, with the bidding results published each day on its website, from 28 February. The auction is expected to last up to ten days, with the names of bidders and winners published after the tender's completion.

Sweden raises SEK 2 billion in 800MHz band auction

Swedish telecommunications regulator PTS annoucned that the auction of 800MHz band spectrum raised a total of SEK 2.054 billion (EUR 233 million), with three existing operators winning spectrum rights. TeliaSonera said it will use the 800MHz blocks won to further expand its 4G network in Sweden. The 25-year licence for 2x10MHz cost the company SEK 854 million. Zweden start met veiling 800 Mhz-spectrum

De Zweedse telecomwaakhond PTS is begonnen met de veiling van spectrum in de 800Mhz-band. De licenties zijn technologie- en dienstenneutraal, zodat de eigenaar vrij is in de keuze voor technologie en diensten. Tijdens de veiling wordt op zes blokken (elk 2×5 MHz) geboden en bieders mogen maximaal twee licenties (2×10 MHz) kopen. PTS zegt dat de veiling twee tot tien dagen in beslag zal nemen en deelnemers aan de veiling worden pas naderhand bekend gemaakt.
