Swedish data authority probes Spotify for compliance with GDPR

Wednesday 12 June 2019 | 13:38 CET | News

The Swedish Data Inspection Authority said it is investigating Spotify's handling of customer requests under GDPR to find out what information the music streaming company hold about them. Spotify has until 01 July to respond. The authority said it has been alerted to claims of potential shortcomings in its record keeping, such as incomplete or unclear records.

The authority said it has received complaints that Spotify’s information does not include data that ought to be provided according to articles 15.1 and 15.2 of GDPR. Copies of private information issued under article 15.3 does not include all the personal details about Spotify customers, it said. Further, Spotify provides information that is insufficiently clear, as prescribed by article 12.1.
