The Swedish metro grid association, SSNf, said the government is reviewing Swedish data retention laws. It has appointed Sigurd Heuman, chair of the Security and Integrity Protection Authority, to report on the matter by 09 October 2017. The review follows the European Court of Justice ruling on data retention on 21 December 2016, which made it clear that Swedish law does not comply with EU law. In particular, the court criticised the Swedish system of having a general rather than a specific obligation to retain information for law enforcement.
