Swedish operators form mobile payment joint venture
Swedish mobile operators Telia, Tele2, Telenor and 3 have formed an equally owned joint mobile payment company. As of the summer of 2012, both postpaid as well as prepaid Swedish mobile customers will be able to use the new company's mobile wallet service to pay for various services such as public transportation or parking. One of the advantages of the service is that customers will not experience any change in the use of their digital wallet after they switch operators. At present, only Telia has a mobile payment service on the Swedish market. Telia's service, which is based on technology from Accumulate, is already prepared for all payment transactions, namely POS, person-to-person, online, man-to-machine and extra services like SMS voting, ticketing, gift and loyalty cards, among others.
