Swiss retail has great potential for mobile payments

Friday 14 July 2017 | 10:43 CET | News
According to a survey by Deloitte, the Swiss retail sector may rely on the growing trend for mobile payments and use of mobile phones at self-checkout machines, reported CEToday. Based on the survey, 42 percent already use self-checkout machines and 65 percent want to use them in future. This would mean a 50 percent growth. Even bigger growth potential is expected in mobile payments, from 23 percent currently to 46 percent in future. Mobile payments in retail could boost revenues, as 30 percent of consumers expect to increase their spending when paying by mobile phone or smartwatch.
