Swisscom introduces 1 Gbps broadband
Swisscom is offering internet speeds of 1 Gbps to residential customers from 11 November using its new fibre-optic network, which is now available to over 650,000 homes. This top speed can be booked as an option with 'Vivo Casa 5' for CHF 100 a month. Another new option available with this package is 300 Mbps for CHF 20 a month. All Vivo Casa 5 customers benefit in addition from an automatic increase in browsing speed to 100 Mbps at no extra charge (CHF 149), up from 50 Mbps. Swisscom aims to make ultra broadband available to over 2.3 million homes and businesses by 2015. Swisscom has developed a new Internet Box to support the new 1 Gbps speeds. This is offered free to all Vivo Casa 5 customers who want to book the new speed options.

Swisscom launches Docsafe service for consumers

Swisscom is expanding its range of cloud services with the launch of Docsafe for private customers, reports inside-it.ch. This allows consumers to store and archive digital documents. From February 2014, Docsafe will be expanded to allow customers to pay bills through the service.

Swisscom revenues up 2.2% in Q3

Swisscom has maintained its full-year outlook for flat to lower results, after a mixed third quarter. Revenues for the three months to September were up 2.2 percent year-on-year to CHF 2.867 billion, helped by the acquisition of Cinetrade and customer growth. The operator posted a 0.7 percent increase in sales in Switzerland and a 0.4 percent rise at Fastweb in Italy. EBITDA improved 2.1 percent to CHF 1.146 billion. Swisscom appoints Schaeppi as new CEO

Swisscom has appointed Urs Schaeppi as its new CEO. He has been with the company for 15 years, serving as head of the corporate business since 2007 and head of Switzerland since the start of 2013. Swisscom, Legic, Kaba develop NFC-based ID services

Swisscom, Legic and Kaba have signed a partnership agreement to jointly develop NFC-based services in Switzerland. Swisscom is developing a platform for NFC services of different card issuers under the name 'Tapit'. In addition to that, Legic Identsystems is introducing a service dubbed 'IDConnect' which makes it possible to realise applications such as access control, ticketing or office automation on a smartphone with an installed Tapit application.
