Swisscom picks Cisco for IP network transformation

Cisco said it has signed a contract to help Swisscom transform its various IP networks into one IP network with a view to increasing efficiency and reliability while reducing complexity and operating costs. Under the five-year preferred supplier deal, Cisco will help Swisscom simplify its existing infrastructure of more than 10 IP networks into one, allowing the operator to meet an annual 25 percent increase in capacity requirements.
